All that you are

Remember the very words that sealed my love for you: “I accept you for who you are. All that you are.” If only you could do the same for yourself.

September 30, 2026

Some lines in a story are there to move the plot along. And some lines walk straight out of the screen and sit down next to you. This one did that for me. It is from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, written above the way I remember it.

What I love is that it has two halves. The first half is the gift we hope to receive from the people who love us: I accept you for who you are. All that you are. Not the polished version. Not the one from the good days only. All of it: the moods, the tired mornings, the parts we would rather hide.

And then comes the second half, which is the quiet punch: if only you could do the same for yourself. Someone can see all of us and still choose us, and we can still be the last one to agree. Many of us are kinder to a friend in five minutes than we are to ourselves in a whole year.

I don’t think self-acceptance means pretending everything is fine. For me it is closer to this: looking at myself with the same patient eyes I would use for someone I love. Noticing, without the verdict.

That is also the spirit I want in MyDays X. Your days go up and down. Your body has its own rhythm, and it does not ask for permission. Writing it down is not about grading yourself. It is a way of getting to know yourself a little better, and maybe a little more gently.

So here is my small question for today. What is one part of yourself you would accept right away in someone you love, but still find hard to accept in you?

You don’t have to tell anyone. But if you want to, tell me. I read every reply. And thank you to the writers of Strange New Worlds, for the words.
